From Sales Executive to Performance Coach

Lucy Atkinson explains her FLEETCOR journey from Sales Executive to Performance Coach.

How long have you been with FLEETCOR?

I started working for FLEETCOR on 1st August 2011 so six years next month.

What made you want to join FLEETCOR and how has it changed since you started?

Before FLEETCOR I worked in insurance at CPP in York, I worked as a Consumer Sales Adviser. This was my first job in sales and I worked there for two years but then the sales department closed down. I discovered FLEETCOR, went for an interview (with David James) and got the job! I was so excited to start, and loved the fact there was no limit to what you could earn.

On my interview I was shown what it was like to work as a Sales Executive from the sales guys point of view, which was great. The team was a lot smaller then than it is now and there was no defined training team like there is now. I was trained by the Team Leaders and Senior sales people within the team.

You’ve gone from Sales Executive to Team Leader and now Performance Coach. How have you found the progression at FLEETCOR?

I loved being a Sales Executive, and did this for two years, then progressing to Senior sales and covering teams whilst their Team Leaders were on holiday. I was a Sales Executive in Fleet and the partner team and really enjoyed being in both. I then got the role as Team Leader for the Fleet team and managed a team of 10 Sales Executives. I did this for two years.

I then had a baby and returned part time. My next move and current role is Performance Coach and I absolutely love my job! I love the people I work with across sales at all three of our sales sites in the UK.

What is it like working in Sales at FLEETCOR?

I love working in sales, even though I’m not phone based anymore, I spend the majority of my time with the sales team. FLEETCOR is such a great company to work for, so many opportunities and lots of money to be earnt.

Would you recommend FLEETCOR as a place of work?

Yes definitely! If you are looking for progression, it’s by far the best place to be.

The benefits package is the best I’ve seen and a lot of us socialise outside of work which is great. FLEETCOR love to celebrate success and often pay for teams to go out for drinks, meals, BBQs and more. FLEETCOR Christmas Party and a day at the races just to name a couple.
