What did we get up to this Christmas time?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! What better way to thank our employees and celebrate the end of a great year, than with a Christmas party. Read on to find out what our UK locations got up to this Christmas time.

Knaresborough and Leed’s ‘magical’ evening…

The northern Christmas Party took place in Harrogate at the Everyman Cinema and 55 of our employees from the Knaresborough and Leeds office came to celebrate. It was a spectacular night, wonderfully organised by the social committee; Natasha Welsh, Joe Robinson, Jamie MacDougall and Lucy Atkinson.

Drinks were on the house all night as well as an appetising spread of food, great company and a magical performance from Britain’s Got Talent finalist David Penn, who dumbfounded us with some of his incredible tricks.

As Christmas is the time for giving back, a FLEETCOR raffle was also held, with prizes such as a Spa Day, a couple of Google Home minis, alcohol, a Nespresso coffee machine, Bluetooth headphones and a laptop were on offer.

“It was a fantastic evening and one of the best Christmas parties I’ve attended! A big credit to those that put so much of their time into organising the party” – David James, Director of Sales.

Meriden’s Great Gatsby

This year we decided to break with tradition and have a more sophisticated, sit-down dinner Christmas Party. We actually put this to vote back in July and the employees opted for a change to our usual party set-up.

The hotel ran a Great Gatsby theme throughout December for their festive parties. The room was dressed with 1920’s props and centre-pieces, even our employees ran with the theme and came to the party in Great Gatsby attire, making for a very glam event!

We hosted an awards ceremony, compèred by two members of the senior Management team; Gary Hill & Tim Meadows, who were kitted out in tuxedos, top hats and canes. The awards were voted for by the employees over a number of weeks leading up to the party, including categories such as Best Dressed Employee 2018 to Rising Star of the year.

One of the highlights of the evening was the surprise flash mob, performed by a group of employees who had secretly choreographed and practiced a Charleston routine ready for the party. It was absolutely amazing, that took some guts!

We have a really wonderful work force in Meriden and the Christmas party wouldn’t be a success if it wasn’t for everyone making the effort to come and join in the festivities.

Swindon’s FLEETCOR Oscars

Friday 14th December saw the Swindon office celebrate in style at our Oscar themed Christmas party. Hosted at the DoubleTree, Hilton, Swindon, over 40% of the office celebrated the festive season.

Starting at 7.30, the Oscar-themed party let us indulge into a three-course meal, casino and selfie mirror before dancing the night away, long after the 12pm curfew, where the party moved from the hall to the Hilton bar.

As well as the chance to let our hair down, we were able to celebrate the efforts of some of the best people in the office, with Alan King, Paul Holland and Thore Vestergaard handing out our own Fleetcor Oscars to the deserved winners:

  • Our Team Player, for whom nothing is too much trouble, was Alister Henderson
  • Steph Armitage won the Oscar for the Most Progressed Team Member
  • The Biggest Team Diva Oscar was awarded to Paul Oldridge
  • Our Team Fixer was indisputably Nicki Howlett
  • We awarded the Inspirational Office Member Oscar to Jen Simpson
  • Finally, the Office Oracle Oscar was given to Chelsea Wakenshaw

The event, organised by Stephanie Teasdale and Nicki Howlett, has been touted as the best office party we have had in years.
