Wild about our Wildcats! See why FLEETCOR Swindon support their local Ice Hockey team!

One of FLEETCOR’s sponsors’ include the Swindon Wildcats; Swindon’s professional Ice Hockey team. Playing in the National Ice Hockey League’s South 1 division, it’s fantastic that FLEETCOR’s sponsorship has coincided with the Wildcats best season for over 20 years, with two cup finals to look forward to in March! Here at FLEETCOR Swindon, we offer our employees the chance to win tickets to see the Wildcats in a weekly prize draw!

“A Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey match is a great night out for both families and adults. The crowd are hyped up by a t shirt cannon throwing free Wildcats shirts into the crowd before the game starts, the atmosphere in the arena is exciting and the game itself is fast paced and action filled! If you get to experience that for free, it’s a win-win.”

Kevin Pamphilon, a Senior Insight Analyst at FLEETCOR, offers colleagues who win tickets, a 10 minute introduction to the sport at the game; explaining how long the game is, who the team are, the different roles of the players and the basic game rules. Kevin isn’t actually involved with the prize draw; he offers his knowledge because of his passion for Ice Hockey. Kevin used to be a team manager for the U18s side and has been a Wildcats season ticket holder for a number of years.

“I think it’s fantastic that FLEETCOR have used their sponsorship benefits to offer something for the employees. A lot of people will get to experience something they probably wouldn’t have thought of doing before and others, who might have been to games in the past, will get to enjoy a free night at the hockey”.

For every home game, there are 9 tickets up for grabs in FLEETCOR’s prize draw; the first out of the draw wins 4 balcony tickets, second place wins 3 rink side tickets and third place wins 2 rink side tickets. Our Office Manager, Nicki Howlett, runs the draw a few days in advance; employees email her, asking to join the draw. Once the winners’ receive their tickets, they’re removed from that season’s draw.

“Hopefully employees can identify with the Wildcats as a key part of the community that the company is supporting. The sponsorship doesn’t just support the team; it also supports all the work that the Wildcats do in schools and working with disadvantaged children, for which the club won a Wiltshire Sports Award recently” – Kevin Pamphilon.

At FLEETCOR, we feel proud to sponsor a team that gives back to the community. In 2008, ‘Swindon Wildcat’s In the Community’ was established as a non-profit organisation. Their aim is to boost sport participation levels within Wiltshire and educate both children and adults about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. They do this through their ‘Community Schools Programme’; working with over 50 schools to introduce Ice Hockey and Street Skating and through their Ice Hockey Academy, which is the largest junior Ice Hockey Club in the UK.

"This had been our first year with FLEETCOR on board as sponsors and we have built such a great working relationship so far, one I hope we can continue with into the future. It's quite an honour to be sponsored by such a hugely established organisation and we are so thankful for all that they do to support our team. We seem to have quite the fan base amongst the employees at FLEETCOR now which is fantastic; staff are attending our games every week and bringing along friends and family, which is key to helping our crowds and organisation grow. FLEETCOR are truly a part of our hockey family and I look forward to continuing our great relationship into the new season." - Sally Price, Commercial Manager, Swindon Wildcats.
